Setting Sail: Island hopping paradise

One of Croatia’s most alluring aspects of sailing is the vast archipelago that dots its coastline. With over a thousand islands and islets to explore, each with its own special charm, you could start an island-hopping adventure that takes you from one lovely location to another. The Dalmatian Coast boasts so many well-known islands. These islands offer a delightful mix of charming old-world villages, pristine beaches, and thrilling nightlife. Each island has its own unique attractions, whether you’re seeking to discover historic landmarks, relax on tranquil beaches, or indulge in the local cuisine.

Start your sailing season with a route that will take you along this breathtaking coast. Along the way, you’ll come across towns like Dubrovnik and the beautiful islands of Mljet, Hvar, and Brac. Dubrovnik’s mediaeval walls, Mljet National Park’s natural splendour, and Hvar’s exciting nightlife are just a few highlights.

The second route can be from Split to Zadar. This route includes Kornati National Park, Trogir, and Solta. You may see the fascinating historical monuments in Split, the quaint village of Trogir, and the spectacular Kornati archipelago with its many islands and coves.

Next, the northern route connects Zadar and Pula. It will take you through the Kvarner Bay of Krk, Cres, and Losinj. Experience the historical town of Rab, the Roman remains in Pula, and the gorgeous beaches in Losinj.

With its lovely seaside villages like Rovinj and Porec, the Istrian Peninsula provides a unique type of sailing experience. Explore the lovely hilltop villages in the area while dining on delectable Istrian cuisine.

Navigating weather and conditions

The summer months (from June to August) are the high season for sailing in Croatia. The weather is pleasant and bright during this time of year. The optimal sea temperature for swimming and other aquatic sports is between 25°C and 35°C (77°F and 95°F) throughout the day. These months offer clear skies and calm waters. Being the busiest time of the year, coastal towns will be alive with bustling nightlife, beach parties, and a dynamic atmosphere.

Late Spring (May) and Early Autumn (September to October) offer comfortable weather conditions with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 28°C (68°F to 82°F). During this time, the cities are less crowded. While the weather is still pleasant, it is less expensive to rent a yacht and stay overnight than it is in the summer. Although you may still enjoy sunny days, the weather might be unpredictable, and there may be a few rain showers here and there. As the tourist season draws to a close, some beachfront businesses could begin to close.

Along the shore, Croatia’s winters (November to April) are comparatively mild, with daily highs of 10°C to 15°C (50°F to 59°F). Since the sea is cooler, swimming is not advised. This is the most affordable and quietest time of year to charter a sailing yacht. Prices for yacht charters are at their lowest, and you’ll have the coast and popular locations almost entirely to yourself. In towns along the coast, many tourist attractions, services, and businesses close during the off-season because of the chilly weather. For those who love solitude and don’t mind lower temperatures, this is the best time to go sailing.

Your priorities will ultimately determine the ideal time to charter a sailing yacht in Croatia. The summer is the best time to visit if you like warm temperatures, busy environments, and a variety of activities. Late spring and early autumn provide a balance between nice weather and less traffic.

The cost of your journey by sailing yacht

The cost of renting a sailing yacht in Croatia can be influenced by various factors. These factors include the type and dimensions of the yacht, the time of year you plan to sail, the duration of your rental, any additional services or crew required, as well as the yacht’s facilities and age.

The size, brand, and age of a sailing yacht are important factors to take into account when determining its price. Yachts that are larger and more opulent are typically more expensive. We offer weekly charters, but it is important to remember that not all costs will likely be covered by the initial charter fee. If you choose to hire a captain or crew, you will also need to budget for extra expenses like food and beverages, fuel, marina fees, the captain’s or crew’s fees, water toys, and insurance. If you’re new to yachting, it’s recommended that you hire a skipper for guidance. Depending on their qualifications and experience, skippers’ fees can change. For crewed charters, you’ll need to factor in crew wages as well. Remember, we’re here to help you plan your yacht trip and make sure everything goes smoothly.

In the height of the season, Yacht Charter Croatia offers sailing yacht rentals for as little as €1,000 per week for a smaller, older model and as much as €60,000 or more per week for larger, newer, and more luxurious models.
